Leadership voyages and personal discovery journeys.
After a thorough refit, we enjoyed a wonderful trip and a successful sea trial in Ireland this summer. The work was carried out by a dedicated team, and in the months ahead we’ll share more of that story. It reflects an ethos: keeping Spirit in good shape is a continuous effort. A third wave of refit is planned this winter so that next summer, she is ready for journeys with you.
In the coming months, we will announce and publish our leadership programs so you can register for 2026. Alongside these open journeys, we also offer in-company programs, tailored for executive teams, boards, and management groups. If you would like to create a custom company program, just contact me, I’d be happy to talk it through with you.
Set sail for Leadership and Team excellence in 2026
Welcome to Spirit of Ostend, where every voyage is more than a destination. Aboard Spirit, you reconnect with nature, grow through teamwork, and find space for reflection, all within the timeless beauty of a classic yacht. We offer both leadership voyages and personal discovery journeys.
From refit to Leadership Voyages
At sea, leadership is not abstract, it is practiced. Every decision has consequences, every role matters, and silence can carry as much weight as words. On board, teams learn to navigate uncertainty, to share responsibility, and to trust each other under shifting conditions. Reflection happens naturally: in the rhythm of the waves, in the pauses between action, in the conversations that arise when the horizon is wide open.
Our sailing grounds are Ireland’s dramatic southern and western coasts, where the Atlantic meets rugged shores and timeless seafaring traditions.
Expect voyages of 3 to 7 days, combining the challenge of the sea with the craft of leadership, teamwork, and discovery.
No sailing experience is needed, just a sense of adventure and a love for new experiences. Few things compare to the sense of well-being that comes from discovering a stunning anchorage after a day on the waves, followed by the warmth and charm that Spirit and her crew bring to life. We prepare delicious meals on board, and while we maintain a dry boat during the sailing trips, we do have exquisite spirits, a curated selection of craft beers, and distinctive non-alcoholic special drinks to enjoy once anchored. Spirit offers three cozy cabins, comfortably accommodating up to six guests.
In the coming months, we will announce and publish our open discovery programs for 2026. These are designed for individuals, couples, and small groups who want to enjoy the sea as a space for renewal and connection.
Our journeys take you along Ireland’s southern and western coasts, where ocean and landscape shape each day differently. One evening you may anchor in a quiet bay and enjoy dinner under the stars; another, you might sail into a lively harbor town and feel the pulse of coastal life.
Expect voyages from 3 to 7 days, offering a blend of adventure, discovery, and the joy of simply being at sea.
Personal discovery journeys
We are our relationships. It’s a phrase that doesn’t translate easily into English, yet it holds so much meaning for me. As a leader, I’m often told that I must first know myself before I can lead others. It’s a common mantra in many training programs, valuable, but not entirely true for me.
Can I truly know myself, without the reflection of others? Or do I come to know myself through the gaze of others, through the quiet feedback of nature, through being part of a ship, through immersing myself in sailing?
Leadership, too, is something you learn. And learning requires awareness, standing consciously in relationships. A leader can have unknown parts within themselves, always discovering something new. But it’s always in relation, never alone.
We sail together, with respect for each other, admiration, and awe for nature. It’s not a race. We’re not playing a finite game. We’re not escaping the world. That smartphone is still in our pocket, even at sea. But it’s the sea that calls, and you don’t even need to answer.
We are always connected
